The Ocean server upgrade scheduled for the evening of July 9th, 2026 contains the following improvements and fixes.
Ocean will be intermittently unavailable between 10:00 - 11:00 PM EST while the upgrade is being deployed. To view all scheduled Ocean server upgrade dates, check out the Ocean Server Upgrade Schedule.
Provider Network
Improvements
- New early access feature: Ocean is now providing early access to our Most Responsible Provider (MRP) reassignment feature which allows users to reassign a referral to another eligible provider at the same sending site. Ocean uses the new MRP’s information where appropriate across the referral workflow, while still clearly identifying the original sending provider on the referral PDF
- Improved Ocean Healthmap search so accented and unaccented French search terms return the same results.
- Improved the referral dashboard folder display so French folder names display without affecting folder count visibility.
- Added functionality to prevent users from deleting an eSubmission listing while active eSubmissions still exist, protecting in-progress submission workflows.
- Improved Ocean Healthmap search so users can more easily find Special Authority Request (eSubmission) listings.
- Made improvements to Ontario Provincial Care Coordination Gateway (PCCG) forwarding workflows where Ocean receives forwarded referrals from a third-party system (Ontario Health).
Fixed Bugs
- Applied a fix to Autofill Templates so “Request Form Changes Detected” warnings clear after a user reviews and saves the template against the current form version.
Patient Engagement
Improvements
- Updated Patient View in the Ocean Portal so Online Appointment Booking records appear in their own dedicated section instead of being mixed into referral tables, making it easier to distinguish booking activity from referral activity.
Fixed Bugs
- Resolved an issue with Online Booking submissions so the appointment medium selected during booking is correctly applied in the Portal.
- Fixed check-in workflows for FHIR integrated EMRs, so marking a patient as arrived includes the required appointment details and no longer fails validation
Platform
Improvements
- Improved account security by preventing users with Site Admin access from disabling two-factor authentication on their Ocean account, if they have it enabled.
- Upgraded Ocean’s FHIR libraries to keep Ocean aligned with supported FHIR standards.
- Added ability for Directory Listings to be associated with a billing subsite so referral billing and invoice reporting can be tracked separately by subsite.
