Can eReferrals be edited after they have been sent?

Yes, eReferrals can be edited after they have been sent. Certain pieces of patient information and all request form answers can be edited by any user in the Ocean Site that originally sent the eReferral.

Editing Patient Demographic Information

  • Open the relevant referral and in the 'General' section click the pencil icon next to the patient name.
  • Modify the relevant pieces of patient information and click 'OK' to update the referral.

    Note: Date of Birth and Health Number (HN) cannot be modified after a referral has been sent.

  • In the 'Messaging' section of the referral, a message will be automatically sent to each referral stakeholder informing them of the changes that were made.

Will the message flag the referral in the 'Needs Review' folder?

  • If the patient information was modified after the recipient accepted the referral, the message will flag the referral in the 'Needs Review' folder for the recipient to inform them of the change(s).
  • If the patient information was modified before the recipient accepted the referral, the message will not flag the referral in the 'Needs Review' folder for the recipient, since it is unlikely the recipient viewed the referral prior to the change(s) being made.
  • For all other referral stakeholders, the message will flag the referral in their 'Needs Review' folder to inform them of the change(s).

  • Open the relevant referral and in the 'Referral Form Summary' section click the pencil icon.
  • Modify the relevant responses and click 'OK'.
  • In the 'Messaging' section of the referral, a message will be automatically sent to each referral stakeholder informing them of the changes that were made.

  • If the request form answers were modified after the recipient accepted the referral, the message will flag the referral in the 'Needs Review' folder for the recipient to inform them of the change(s).
