We have updated the list of IP addresses that Ocean may use to send referral events and notifications from our Production environment (ocean.cognisantmd.com). Previously, eReferral and/or Patient Engagement integration messages could originate from five IP addresses. We are adding a new sixth IP address: 15.223.13.235.
If you have one or more Ocean Sites in the Production environment and you manage network firewall rules that restrict inbound traffic to specific Ocean IPs, you will need to take action:
- You will need to add the new IP address (15.223.13.235) to your firewall's allowed IP list for inbound traffic.
- Please ensure any relevant network firewall rule updates are completed by September 16, 2026 in order to avoid missing referral events and other notifications from Ocean.
If you have any questions, please contact the OceanMD Support Team.
FAQ's
Are any IP addresses being removed?
No. The existing Ocean public IP addresses are not being removed. You should retain the existing entries and add the new IP address.
What is the new IP addresses being added?
15.223.13.235
Why is this change being made?
We are adding an additional outbound public IP address to increase the availability and capacity of Ocean services.
What happens if I don’t allowlist the new IP?
Requests originating from Ocean’s new public IP address may be blocked by your firewall or other security controls. Because Ocean requests can originate from any of our outbound IP addresses, these failures may occur intermittently and be difficult to detect. As a result, messages, referrals, or forms may not be successfully received by your Ocean site or by other Ocean sites integrated with systems you support.
When will this new IP Address be introduced?
Sept 16, 2026
Can I add the new IP before Sept 16, 2026?
Yes. We recommend adding the new IP address as soon as possible. Adding it before the go-live date will not affect existing traffic.
