The PS Suite Ocean Toolbar offers convenient buttons to use Ocean from directly within a patient's chart in the EMR. For instructions on how to install the Ocean toolbar, please refer to "Download & Install the Ocean Custom Form & Toolbar".
- Patient Ref Number:
- The Patient Ref number is the patient's Ocean reference number. When this number is entered into the Ocean Tablet app, it will subsequently pull up any eForms that have been queued for this specific patient (in addition to eForms that are triggered based on Tablet Rules).
- Reference numbers will only be displayed for patients that have been uploaded into Ocean (e.g., by opening the Ocean Custom Form, sending a message, or an eRequest, etc.)
- View in Ocean
- This will provide a comprehensive summary view of the status of a patient's recent interactions through Ocean, including any active eReferrals and eConsults, the ability add and view any forms queued for a patient, a summary of recent Ocean notes, and the ability complete forms in a browser window on behalf of the patient by clicking on a queued form name.
- Email:
- This will allow you to send a secure message or eForm for the patient to receive via email to complete at home. Please refer to "Basic Patient Messaging Workflow" to learn more about how to send emails to patient through Ocean.
- Attach:
- The Attach button can be used to create PDF versions of clinical notes, which can then be attached to a secure message or printed. - Form:
- This will allow you to search for and queue an Ocean eForm(s) for the patient to complete (e.g., via tablet, kiosk, or Health Messenger after a Patient Message has been sent).
- Import:
- This will allow you to import any patient information that the patient submitted via eRequest submission, eReferral submission, or new walk-in patients, using the patient's 3- or 4-digit Ocean reference number.
- Portal:
- This will launch a web browser and open the Ocean Portal where you can manage your Ocean configuration and take advantage of additional Ocean workflows.
- ON eConsult:
- This will initiate an eConsult to the Ontario eConsult Service OTNhub. For more information, please refer to: How do I use Ocean to connect to the Ontario eConsult Service on the OTNhub?
- Note that this button is not available for all PS Suite users.
- Refer:
- This will initiate an eRequest for the patient by launching into the Ocean Healthmap in a web browser.
